Recap 4/3/2005 - 14-11 loss vs. Tecolote
Nothing against Tecolote, they are good guys and have some quality players and they made some big plays today, but I believe we are a better ballclub than our results have shown so far. It just seemed like everything that could go wrong today did, including having to finish up with 8 players due to an untimely and unfortunate injury.
I spoke with Steve last night. He is doing OK, it looks like there is a problem with his Miniscus (sp?). He'll have a better idea of the extent of the damage tomorrow, but we should expect him to be out for at least a couple of weeks or longer.
Hitting
We had 16 hits in 8 innings, highlighted by a team record 4 home runs. Individual highlights.
Dennis (2/3), on base 3/4, two HRs. Just an awesome batting performance.
Doug (3/4), including a HR and a Triple. Doug was just a double away from hitting for the cycle.
Steve (1/3) with a HR.

Pitching & Defense
We struggled today on the mound. Ditto defensively. There is plenty of blame to go around for just about everyone. Enough said.
Looking Forward
Next week we have a big game vs. The Heat, 1:30 pm at West Hills. They are a new team in our division, comprised of SD Police, I believe. I will make sure that we have a full squad of 11+ for the game... we've cut it too close on players the last couple of weeks and it caught up with us this week. I apologize and accept responsibility for that. This will be corrected... that is my pledge to you. I ask in return that everyone show up ready to play ball. If you can't make the game, let me know, well in advance, and remind me if you have to. We have guys we can call out to sub, but I have to know I need to do so.
On a personal level, I want everyone to know that I am proud to have you on my team and proud of the way you conduct yourselves as a team. I spoke to several of you after the game and we all share the same sentiment: this is a good team, top to bottom one of the best teams any of us, Sox and Cardinals alike, have played on in this league. We are going to work to add one or two pieces to the mix, but I believe that each of you bring value to this ballclub.
